Bridges
Bridges, a summer program for girls going into the 9th grade, is also held at North Shore
Community College, Monday-Friday from 8:30am -3:30pm. The goal of Bridges is to prepare girls
for the transition to high school and to increase their awareness of future career options.
Girls entering 9th grade participate in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) class.
On Fridays the girls visit a woman-owned and/or run business to gain a deeper understanding of
various careers and work environments. Girls who complete the Bridges program are eligible
for a paid internship the summer before 10th grade where they utilize the science, technology, and
math skills they have developed in their first real work experience.
