Part of the Solution is the youth advisory council to Lynn's Communities that Care Coalition.
Part of the Solution is comprised of 25 Lynn teens (females & males) from different backgrounds
who care about making Lynn a great place to live. The purpose of the group is to help reduce
alcohol and drug abuse in the city and to make our neighborhoods safe places.
Some of the projects Part of the Solution have recently or are currently working on are:
Youth Leadership & Community Action:
Organized park clean-ups & the replacement of city basketball hoops
Organized youth events including the annual 'Be Part of the Solution 3 on 3 Basketball
Tournament' and the first ever Teen Movie Night in Central Sq.
• Applied for & received grant funding and worked with city officials to coordinate events
• Environmental Strategies: Sticker Shock Campaign / Compliance Checks / Shoulder Tap Surveys
• Media: Created 6 Public Service Announcements with two different messages
"I thought you cared..." (targeting family and friends who provide alcohol to individuals under 21)
and "I don't drink because..." (targeting youth 14-18)
Bus Stop Poster Campaign (using the messages "I don't drink because..." and "I thought you cared..."
