About Us!

What is Girls Incorporated of Lynn?

Girls Incorporated of Lynn has been operating programs and advocating for girls since 1942. We are a local affiliate of the national organization, Girls Incorporated, formerly Girls Club of America.  For over 65 years, Girls Incorporated of Lynn  has responded to the changing needs of girls and their communities by providing essential resources and programs to at risk, low-income girls and their families.

Our Mission:
To inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold by building girls' capacity for responsible and confident adulthood, economic independence and personal fulfillment

What Programs Do We offer?

Our programs are designed with girls' experiences and strengths in mind and are held in a safe, enriching environment where girls can be themselves.

All Girls Inc. programs are field tested to ensure their effectiveness and suitability for the age group.  Our research-based, informal and fun programs center upon six core content categories:

Careers & Life Planning     Health & Sexuality    Leadership & Community Action
Self-Reliance & Life Skills    Culture & Heritage    Sports &  Adventure

Our programs also focus on science, math, technology, media literacy and money management.

Elementary Age Programs for after school child care are held at the main site
and Washington School for girls ages 6-12.

Middle School Programs are offered for girls in grades 6-8. Eureka!  Odyssey and  Bridges offer fun and hands-on activities that  challenge your mind, body and spirit.

Teen Programs  Join our programs and experience an exciting and life changing alternative to "hanging out".  Our programs address the serious issues facing teens-
early sexual activity, alcohol, drugs,  tobacco and racism.  We also help teens prepare for their futures through our Career Path program.

Why did we change our name?.

The name change occurred for the following reason:  Boys Club of America was allowed in a settlement with Girls Clubs of America to change its name to Boys and Girls Clubs of America.  We wanted a name and image that better reflects who we are today and  a name that clearly distinguishes us from Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

In 1991 the Girls Club of Lynn became Girls Incorporated of Lynn!
