SCHOOL-AGE CHILD CARE
School-Age Child Care program is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) to provide quality care for 156 girls at our High Street facility. Program hours are 1:45 pm – 5:30 pm Monday – Friday. During school vacation weeks hours are 7:30am – 5:30pm.
The program offers girls ages 5 to 12 (grades 1-6) fun and hands-on enrichment activities during a combination of structured and informal club time. During informal club time girls are given a choice of activities such as basketball or jump rope in the gym; reading or working on homework in the library; safely surfing the Internet and leaning computer skills on laptops; or exploring nature and Operation SMART (Science Math And Relevant Technology) activities.
Formal time allows girls the opportunity to experience the staff guided diversity of programs designed according to the Girls Inc. national program planning guidelines.
These programs fall into one or more of the following categories:
- Careers and Life Planning
- Self-Reliance and Life Skills
- Sports and Adventure
- Health and Sexuality
- Culture and Heritage
- Leadership and Community Action
Members enjoy an environment that takes girls seriously; provides a chance for them to make new friends, learn new skill and ask questions and explore. There are also special events and opportunities throughout the year for members and families to enjoy celebrations together. For example, our annual Halloween Haunted House Party, Thanksgiving Friends and Family Feast, Mother Daughter Workshops, and Winter Holidays Celebration.
The cost of the program is $110.00 per week. We accept vouchers from the Child Care Circuit and subsidized contract slots on a waiting list basis.
For additional information/application please download the application.
During the summer we offer a full-day program called Fundance.
