24th Annual Celebration Luncheon

Honoring Latoyia Edwards, NECN Primetime Evening Anchor

 

April 11th, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

at the Danversport Yacht Club

The Celebration Luncheon is our signature event and is an inspiring and uplifting afternoon celebrating the accomplishments of our teen Girl Heroes and Women of Achievement. Each year 500 men, women, public officials, community and business leaders and supporters gather at the Danversport Yacht Club. The event will feature the Girls Inc. chorus, our special guest honoree and the opportunity to hear our Girl Heroes share the impact of your generous support. Proceeds of this event will support the school year and summer camp programs at Girls Inc. of Lynn by funding software and technology tools, science equipment, sports equipment, college field trips, college scholarships and job readiness instruction. 

Latoyia Edwards is a primetime evening anchor on NECN, anchoring NECN Tonight, the News at 7, and NECN Business. She joined the NECN family as a morning reporter in 2005, arriving from WWLP-22 in Springfield, MA, where she had been a weekday anchor.  A native of Boston's Dorchester neighborhood, Edwards graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She began her career as a news writer for WBZ-1030AM radio, and later reported for the Fox affiliate WICZ-TV 40 in Binghamton, NY.  She first anchored television for MediaOne cable news network, while also reporting as the morning drive news anchor for WILD 1090AM.  Additionally, Edwards has instructed courses for the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. In 2002, Edwards was crowned Miss Massachusetts in the USA pageant. She is married, and greatly enjoys volunteering with youth groups.
