 9 -17  in a safe,  membership-based web community where members share and connect

on message boards, meet inspiring women, and participate in fun activities.

Teen Programs are listed below: 

CAREER PATH :  Alicia McGee, 781-592-9744 x232

This program focuses on work-readiness skills, academics, and life skills.  Activities include the following:

·        career exploration

·        computer skills

·        Career Speaker Series

·        volunteer opportunities, including My Brother’s Table

·        practice reading job postings, filling out applications, interviewing, job etiquette, and much more

·        paid 6-week internship with non-profit agency

·        processing of internship experience among peers, led by an adult

·        homework assistance, learning how to learn, SAT preparation, and tutoring

·        field trips to work sites

·        field trips to colleges and other educational programs

·        life skills including teen health, drug abuse, STD and early pregnancy prevention

·        assistance with all aspects of a teen’s life to ensure success

La Verdad is a peer leadership group (6 teens)  that works with middle and high school aged people to prevent substance abuse and teach skills to make healthy choices. Teen will develop the following:

  • leadership skills
  • facilitation skills
  • communication skills
  • computer skills
  • strong decision-making skills
  • personal responsibility; willingness to be a role model
  • commitment to the community of Lynn
  • commitment to succeeding in school and continuing education after high school
  • knowledge about best prevention practices
  • exposure to career choices, including “non-traditional” careers for women
  • opportunities to participate in learning job-seeking skills, the career speaker series, SAT preparation, homework assistance, tutoring, and field trips to colleges

  TEEN HEALTH AMBASSADORS:  Markyse Dorceus, 781-592-9744 x215

Teen Health Ambassadors reach out to peers, especially hard-to-reach teens, to prevent unwanted teen pregnancy, STDs, HIV/AIDS and promote healthy choices.  They work with Union Hospital on the teen health van two times per week.  Teens will develop the following:

  • leadership skills
  • street outreach skills
  • communication skills
  • knowledge of teen health issues
  • commitment to the community of Lynn
  • computer skills
  • exposure to career choices, including careers in health care
  • opportunities to participate in learning job seeking skills, the career speaker series, SAT preparation, homework assistance, tutoring, and field grips to colleges
